Dear Families,
I hope everyone has been well, and enjoying the warmer spring weather!
Please find attached the new plans for the upcoming weeks. One of the activities planned for our new theme, Mix & Match, is providing the children with cardboard tubes for them to explore and create with in any way they can imagine. I have been collecting tube for a few weeks now, however I haven't saved nearly as many as I would like. If anyone is able to save their tubes from paper towel, wrapping paper, etc., and bring them in for us to use, it would be greatly appreciated. We are unable to accept toilet paper rolls for sanitary reasons.
In other news, Jayde and I have been working with the children on conflict resolution. Over the past several weeks it had become a growing trend, that during conflicts the children generally seem to be coming straight to the staff, instead of first trying to work through the issue themselves. We, of course, do not want to discourage the children from going to staff members when we are truly needed, however, it is important that the children first try to work out issues themselves. Room 106 staff have been encouraging the children to try and work things out before we intervene. If a situation does call for staff intervention, we do our best to mediate and guide the children to discovering their own solution. To help the development of conflict resolution skills outside of Daycare, you can talk with your children about the importance of listening to and considering the feelings of others when they are involved in a conflict. Having these conversations will help the children begin to develop a sense of empathy.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please no not hesitate to let me know!
